- Have a deck and a first resultAdd your deck and log a match. With the free MTGO client your online matches arrive by themselves.
- Create the overlay addressSettings, then Streaming, then Create my overlay address. It asks for your password.
- Add it to OBSSources, +, Browser, paste the address in URL, set the width to 460 and the height to 200.
- PlayThe overlay shows today's record and updates every ten seconds, with nothing to refresh.
Streamlabs, Twitch Studio, XSplit, vMix and others work the same way: anything that can show a web page as a source can show the overlay.
A small card with the numbers viewers ask about all the time:
- Record of the day (or of the tournament), for example 3-1 or 2-1-1 with a draw.
- Win rate, and your current streak of wins or losses.
- Your last ten results as green, red and amber squares.
- The deck you played last.
How the numbers are counted
- Today counts every tournament round and single match dated today, with the deck of the most recent one.
- The latest tournament (
?scope=event) counts only the rounds of your most recent tournament, which is what you want for a Regional or a league day, and shows its name as the title.
- A bye counts as a win and an intentional draw as a draw, as it does in the tournament standings.
- The page asks for fresh numbers every ten seconds and updates in place, so it never flashes on stream. If your connection drops for a moment it keeps what it shows.
Two scenes, two addresses. Add the plain address to your gameplay scene and the same address with ?scope=event to a tournament-day scene. They are the same overlay with a different option, so there is nothing more to set up.
Options go at the end of the address. The first one follows ?, the next ones follow &. The card is dark unless you ask for something else.
| Option | What it does |
scope=event | The latest tournament instead of today. |
theme=clear | No card at all: only the text, with a soft shadow, over your scene. transparent works too. |
theme=light | A white card with dark text, for light scenes. |
show=record, rate, streak, dots, deck | Only the parts you list, in any combination. |
scale=1.5 | Bigger or smaller, from 0.5 to 3. Everything grows together. |
title=My%20stream | Your own title instead of "Today" or the tournament name (up to 30 characters; use %20 for a space). |

Changed the address in OBS? Right-click the source, Properties, then Refresh cache of current page. The Preview button in Settings shows the overlay in a normal browser tab first.
What viewers can and cannot see
- It shows results, the name of your deck and, with
?scope=event, the name of the tournament.
- It never shows an opponent's name or deck, your notes, a venue, your other decks or anything about your account.
- Whoever has the address can open it, so treat it like a stream key: do not post it in chat. If it leaks, press Change the address in Settings and the old one stops working at once. Turn it off removes it completely.
- Changing or turning off the address needs your password, and the page has its own limit on requests, so nobody can guess an address by trying.
- On MTGO the free Windows client watches your games and sends each match to your account, so the overlay moves as you win and lose, with no typing.
- On paper or Arena log a round from your phone in a few taps: a score preset, the opponent's deck, on the play or on the draw. The tracker at the bottom of the phone keeps it quick between rounds.
- The life tracker counts life and puts the games straight into the form of the round.
- The numbers on the overlay are the same ones as on your dashboard: if you fix a round, the overlay follows at the next beat.
Content from your results
Picture of a tournament
Every tournament with rounds has a Picture to share: name, date, format, record, one chip per round, the deck and the placement. Open it from the ... menu of the row, then save it or send it from your phone. Good for a thumbnail, a post or a Discord message. It is drawn in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Your year, as stories
Your season (a card on the dashboard) sums up the year as full-screen stories: win rate, best deck, best matchup, nemesis, streak, best finish, best month and your milestones. Save any story as a 1080x1920 picture, the size of a phone screen, ready to post. The best finish counts against the size of the event: ninth of 64 beats first of 5.
Picture of a deck
Every deck page has a Picture to share as well: win rate, record, the last results, the best and the toughest matchup, play and draw, and the size of the list. Good for a deck tech or a thumbnail.
Real matchup numbers
The public matchup matrix is a heat map of deck against deck win rates for each format, with the number of matches behind every cell, so you can tell your audience how solid a number is.
Public pages to link
Your public profile, decks and tournaments have their own pages with a share button: send viewers to the exact list you played or the round-by-round report.
The ID question, live
The ID calculator simulates thousands of tournaments like yours and says whether drawing or playing makes the top cut more often. Easy to keep on a second screen while you commentate.
Deck guides
The deck guides collect the lists, the plans and the matchups of an archetype in one place you can point viewers to.
If you test with other people, a test group turns everyone's games into one sample.
- Each member shows only the decks they choose. The group reads the list, the record against each archetype and the plans, never an opponent's name or a note.
- Overview shows what the group does best, where it struggles and which common opponents it has not tested enough: a ready answer for "what should we test next?".
- Compare puts two to four lists side by side, card by card, as a table or as images.
- Plans keeps one sideboard plan for each matchup that the whole team writes together: tap the cards to bring in and take out, add a note, and anyone can update it after a session.
The full walk-through is in the player guide.
Your data, in a spreadsheet
In Settings, Data download your matches (every tournament round and single match), your tournaments and your decks with their full lists.
- Excel files are the neat ones: a coloured header that stays in view, filters on every column, widths that fit, real dates and numbers and a colour on wins and losses. They open in Excel, in Numbers on Mac and iPhone, in Google Sheets and in the preview of your phone, with no separator to choose.
- CSV is plain text for other programs and scripts.
- The files hold only your own data, so they are safe to open on stream, though the matches file does include opponent names and your notes: check before you share it.
The overlay is empty or shows 0-0. Why?
"Today" counts matches dated today: if you have not logged one yet, or the match is dated another day, it starts from 0-0. Try ?scope=event for your latest tournament, and check the date of the match.
It does not update.
It asks for new numbers every ten seconds. In OBS, open the source's properties and press Refresh cache of current page. Make sure the source is not set to stop when hidden if you want it to catch up in the background.
Does it need the MTGO client?
No. It reads the matches in your account, wherever they came from: the client, your phone or the website.
Can viewers see who I played?
No. The overlay carries results, your deck name and, in tournament mode, the tournament name. No opponent names, no opponent decks, no notes, no venue.
Someone has my address. What now?
Settings, Streaming, Change the address. The old address stops working immediately. Paste the new one into OBS.
Can I change colors or fonts?
You can choose the dark card, the white card or no card, which parts to show and the size. If you need more, OBS lets you add custom CSS to a browser source, and the overlay is a plain page you can style.
Does it cost anything?
No. The overlay, the pictures and the downloads are free.
